Description

Winchester 748 is a BALL POWDER® smokeless propellant and a proven choice for loading .223 Remington cartridges. Built for the reloading bench, it delivers Winchester’s focused approach to rifle propellants: factory-performance potential for handloaders using appropriate published load data.

A key characteristic of Winchester 748 is its low flame temperature. Compared with other powders of similar speed, this low flame temperature is designed to extend barrel life, making it a practical option for reloaders who value sustained rifle performance.

Beyond .223 Remington, Winchester 748 is ideal for a wide variety of centerfire rifle loads. Supported applications include .222 Remington, .30-30 Winchester, .30 Winchester, and cartridges up to .458 Winchester Magnum, giving reloaders a broad rifle-loading option within the Winchester propellant lineup.

Made in the USA, Winchester 748 is available in 1 lb. and 8 lb. containers to suit different loading volumes. Always consult appropriate published load data and follow all product-label directions when handling and loading smokeless propellant.

    W748 is Great Varget Substitute

Posted by UtahGunGuy on Feb 22nd 2022

Because I cannot find enough Varget for my needs, I decided to try W748 in my 6mm BR, BRX. and Dasher rifles because it was close to the same burn rate on the comparison charts. So far it is shooting just as accurately as my Varget loads and without having to change the charges significantly. Very happy so far with this powder.
