Description
4895 is a versatile rifle powder with origins in the 30-06 cartridge as a military powder. This is a historic powder for Hodgdon as it was the first powder sold by our founder, Bruce “B.E.” Hodgdon to the reloading public.
As a member of the Extreme line of extruded powder, this powder is a good solution for 30-06, 17 Remington, 250-3000 Savage, 308 Winchester and 458 Winchester, to name just a few. It is amazingly accurate in every cartridge where it is listed in our data.

What a great propellant! Very temperature stable, and I am getting nearly one-hole groups now with my 6.5 Creedmoor after trying several powders over the years, including H4350, Alliant RL16 and Vihtavouri. Used it to hit 5 of 5 at 1000 yards. Now my standard propellant!

I chose H4895 for my antique Trapdoor Springfield and it works better than any other powder. Not only is the accuracy amazing for a rifle this old, but the powder offers the best combination of low chamber pressure and case-filling density.

Versitility
H4895 is the only powder I use in all my large caliber rounds. It has a great powder range so I can load any thing from my 8mm Mauser and below. I use it for my sons and elderly fathers loading to reduce recoil. I also use it exclusively in my old military rifles so I can reduce the loads to be nicer on these classic workhorses.

Probably the best powder for 250 grain bullets in the 35 Whelen! Super accurate and can be loaded hotter than the 50k CUP published in most reloading manuals.
