Product Overview
H4831SC is an Extreme extruded powder and the exact ballistic copy of H4831. Physically, it has a shorter grain size which earned it the “SC” designation for “short cut.” The shorter, more compact kernels allow the powder to flow through the powder measures more smoothly, helping to alleviate the constant cutting of granules. With the smoother flow characteristics comes more uniform charge weights, while the individual grains orient more compactly, creating better loading density.
As an Extreme Extruded propellant, it shares the fine quality of insensitivity to hot and cold temperatures, as well as superb uniformity from lot to lot.
It is a favorite for cartridges like the 270 Winchester, 25-06 Remington, 280 Remington and 300 Winchester Magnum.
Made in Australia.
Available in 1 lb. and 8 lb. containers.

I have had excellent results using this reloading 30-06 Springfield 180 grain hunting loads. Extremely accurate and deadly.

I use this powder for my 300 Win Mag Remington 700 Sendero. It is a tack driver. The first time I shot my hand loads I found a round that had 4 bullets touching at 100 yards. Once I fine tuned the round I have had nothing but success in my hunting. Whenever I have something in my scope I know it will be mine. The last two deer I've taken have both been over 450 yards out and were hit hard and fatal and had no tracking required. They basically fell within feet of where they were standing. I've loved this powder, "4831 sc", for years and I finally bought it in all of its 8 lbs of glory. I love Hodgdon powder because of it's tolerance to temperature. I load my bullets in my house and when I hunt in the snow there is little to no difference in shot placement. I have so much confidence in my shooting platform that I'm almost batting 1000 in my hunting experience. I have missed a couple of times over the last 15 years but those misses were all on me. From pulling my trigger to rushing a shot. I guess if you don't ever miss a shot then you don't hunt. I can't explain how much I love this powder and the people who make it. Thank you Hodgdon for all that you do. I will continue to shoot with your powder until something better comes along and I'm sure it will have the Hodgdon name.

This is one of the most versatile powders Hodgdon makes and the Short Cut version meters very well. I feel luck to have been able to snag a keg of it!

I use this in my 6.5x284 norma to shoot tiny groups at long range. Best powder choice for that round in my opinion.
