Blackhorn 209 Substitute Powder
I have been muzzleloader hunting since 1974. I started out shooting FFG black powder, then went to Pyrodex and now to Blackhorn 209 powder. I had tried to acquire Blackhorn 209 powder initially back in October 2021, but was unable to do so; however, I procured my first in July 2022. Honestly, I cannot believe the ease of use, perhaps I should say "continued use". Let me clarify that last phrase by stating that I shot my Savage ML-II a total of 22 times in my first day's use of Blackhorn 209 and the last bullet loaded as effortlessly as the first and the consistency of my shots was without equal in my 48 years of muzzleloading. If I can continue obtaining Blackhorn 209 powder, I will use it for the remainder of my muzzleloader shooting/hunting days - it is a giant step forward in muzzleloader powder and yet the ambience of firing a muzzleloader is still there when a round is fired - just no residue build-up.
