4227 and 454 Casull
Trying to get consistent loading info for 454 Casull can be frustrating, but it is out there. Using 4227 with 300gr cast bullets in a RIFLE. (Loading tables are all for pistols) But I am getting 1300 fps and 3" groups @100yds with hopes to make it tighter next spring. 4227 leaves a lot of unburned powder in a rifle barrel. I hope someone comes out with 454 rifle data soon.

Excellent powder!
The powder arrived very quickly and well packaged. I use this for .357 loads. I load 125gr JHP, which makes for some real hotsteppers. The powder arrived very quickly!

IMR 4227 - Sharps Rifle
With the current shortage of reloading supplies, recently I purchased some IMR 4227. This powder has historically been used for magnum pistol loads. However, the manufacturer of the hard cast bullets for my Sharps do recommend this powder for reloading 45-70. I've used this powder with 300 and 405 grain bullets, with excellent results at 100 yards. Unfortunately, that is the only distance available to me where I reside. The load is very pleasant to shoot. normally 50 rounds every times I go to the range. With the cost of commercial ammunition, reloading is a must.

Perfect powder…
…for my M1 carbine. 12 grains of 4227 with a 115 gr LRN and a 1.5” group at 50 yards. Hodgkin Powders are the ultimate, IMO.

IMR4227 Smokeless Powder
This powder was all I could get to reload my .44 magnum loads. Previously I used IMR 800 X powder. This powder takes twice as much in grains as 800 X. Therefore a pound of this product will not go as far as a pound of 800 X. Despite this the powder shoots fairly well and does not leave a lot of residue. It is fairly granular as compared to the 800 X powder which is lighter and is in disk form. This powder is more granular like small grains of sand. If I had the capability to get anything that I wanted I would choose the 800 X over this product.
