5 use of HP-38

Against my better interests I'm going to let go a secret. HP-38 is an almost, if not, exact replacement for everybody's favorite: Win231. It can be used in almost every common pistol round - they even put loading data on the label. I've been loading using Win 231 for about 35 years and I'll now use either powder interchangeably. BUT OF COURSE DON'T MIX THEM TOGETHER. Thanks to Hodgdon for selling it at an only slightly elevated, but still reasonable price. The powder meters well in my two Square D presses.

5 Review of HP 38 powder
Posted by Gregory Martin on Dec 1st 2020
I was first introduced to center fire pistol reloading and HP38 powder in 1979 by a club member and we had competitive NRA style shoots. I progressed on to PPC type competition with the Air Force Security Police pistol team at a base in Michigan, on the civilian side, against Military and a complete cross section of Law Enforcement officers. My HP 38 loads in my .38 Special and my .45 ACP, helped me to bring home many a first place trophy. I developed my own loads from the available data reloading manuals to see what my particular firearm liked the best as far as bench rest testing at the various distances. Hodgdon was the first manual I was introduced to also at the time. I'm still using HP 38 to this day and I've steered other new reloaders and shooters towards this particular brand for pistols and I know of several Trap Shooters that use Hodgdon shot shell powder in their daily reloadings. I've laid in a small supply of HP 38 over the years, rotated out regularly as I do date the containers when purchased. I'm going to keep on doing this for as long as I can, with your products in my powder storage to back me up. Thanks for your reloaders data online and for an outstanding product!
