Sales and Shipping Policy

Laws and shipping regulations regarding powder and handloading components are constantly changing. As the consumer, it is important to be aware of federal, state and local regulations regarding the online purchasing of powder and handloading components. Prior to ordering powder, please ensure compliance with all laws and regulations in your city, county and state.

  1. We understand some localities or states may allow powder shipments to consumers with specific types of certifications or identification. Hodgdon Powder Company reserves the right to impose additional shipping restrictions on a specific state. As an example, due to state shipping restriction and identification requirements, we are unable to ship to the state of Massachusetts.
  2. Hodgdon will ship via UPS at the standard shipping rate to each address. Shipping cost will vary by destination and will be calculated at the time of checkout.
  3. Smokeless powder is considered a hazardous material and incur hazmat charges.
  4. Powder shipments will only be shipped via UPS ground service and cannot be expedited.
  5. Powder shipments are restricted to the continental United States. Powder cannot be shipped to Alaska, Hawaii or anywhere outside the continental United States.
  6. Hodgdon Powder Company will pass through the $17.49 per package HazMat charge from UPS to the customer.
  7. UPS can only deliver to a physical address, so please do not enter a P.O. box.
  8. UPS may require a signature on all hazardous material shipments and will not allow these shipments to be redirected to an alternative address once the product is shipped.
  9. We will always attempt to configure the package to help optimize the shipment at the lowest possible cost.
  10. Customers are limited to one (1) order per calendar month with a maximum weight of 48lbs. To save consumers, Hodgdon will combine up to 48 pounds of powder under one shipment.
  11. In the checkout process, our shipping computer will calculate the appropriate sales tax for consumer purchases. At this time, we are unable to collect documentation of tax certificates to avoid paying taxes.

Shipping Timeline:

  1. All products ship from our fulfillment center in Tennessee. 
  2. All orders have tracking information. As soon as assigned, Hodgdon will email a shipping confirmation, including the UPS tracking number, to each customer order. 
  3. In normal business times, Hodgdon will ship all orders within 10-15 business days. Business Days are defined as Monday through Friday and exclude major US holidays. 
  4. Certain remote locations within the continental U.S. may require additional business days for delivery.

Return Policy:

  1. For safety and regulatory reasons, Hodgdon is unable to accept ANY powder returns. 
  2. Please double check your powder order before placing an order as cancellations and returns are not permitted. 
  3. Hodgdon technicians are available at (913) 362-9455 during Hodgdon business hours to help determine the type of powder that should be used for your needs.

What is Route Package Protection?
Route's Package Protection is a package protection solution that helps cover your order in the event that your order gets lost, stolen, or damaged while in transit. We know how frustrating it is to have something happen to your order, so we’ve partnered with Route to offer added assurance that you’re supported, no matter what.  Package Protection can be added during checkout.

How Does Route Work?
If your Route-protected order ends up lost, damaged, or stolen, Route’s expert support team helps ensure that your order gets replaced or refunded as preferred at zero cost to you.

What if My Order Never Arrives or is Stolen?
To protect your order against loss or theft, add Package Protection at checkout.

If your order has not arrived, please file a claim with Route here.

What if My Order Arrives Damaged?
To protect your order against damage that occurred during shipping, add Route Protect at checkout.

If your order has arrived to you damaged, please take photos of the item and the packaging it arrived in to include in your claim when filing.

If your order has defects or you suspect it was damaged during manufacturing, please reach out to us and we will be happy to work with you to remedy the situation.

When Should I File a Claim?
-Marked As Delivered (Stolen)
Claims will be reviewed no earlier than 5 calendar days and no later than 30 calendar days from when it was marked delivered.

-Stuck In Transit (Lost)
Claims will be reviewed no earlier than 7 calendar days and no later than 30 calendar days from the last update.

-Damaged
Claims for damaged items require photos of the packaging and item(s) and must be filed no later than 30 calendar days from when it was marked delivered.

How Do I File a Claim for my Lost, Damaged, or Stolen Order?
If you insured your order with Route at checkout, you will receive a confirmation email from Route with a link to file a shipping issue.

You can also file a shipping issue here. To file a claim, you will need your store order number OR Route ID number and the email address that was attached to the order.

What resolution options do I have with Route?
A replacement order or a refund are your options! Refund options through Route include Venmo & Paypal. If you would prefer a refund to your original payment method, please reach out to orders@hodgdon.com, and we will process that for you.
