IMO the best powder made for Sporting Clays loads where speed and payload are a real benefit, with the correct hull and wad 7/8 ounce loads in 28 Gauge at 1250 to 1300 fps are easy to produce. As a result you get smaller boxes that allow carrying 100 rounds in pockets or pouch and a lighter shotgun to carry. I'll also note that Longshot and the 40 S&W is a perfect combination, it allows loading 165 grain bullets at near Magnum velocity. When you have a load that produces 1150 fps with a 165 grain bullet it's is not even close to being "Short and Weak". The result is loads that approach the power of a full house 10mm in the shorter, and easier to find, 40 S&W case. One issue currently is the limit on the number of containers one can purchase. With that 5 container limit an order for just 5 results in a burden of roughly 12 dollars per pound for Hazmat and shipping. Hodgdon should either up the number limit for 1 lbs. containers or simply not sell any container under 4 lbs.

I have been reloading for a long time. Many calipers, many different powders and I have found Longshot to be the best for high velocity/low pressure. I would be glad to recommend Longshot gun powder.

Purchased because I couldn't find 20/28, which I''ve used for years in 20 and 28. Other than the exorbitant price and lack of 8 lb. jug options, it seems to be a clean burning substitute with slightly lower recoil.

this powder meter out very well in mine Ready mechanical powder charger very few over or under .1 grain I use mine RCBS 1500 powder charger electronic scale check weights now got to find time get out try them.

460 Rowland, 230 grain lrn, 1257 fps, 10.3 grains of longshot. I'd say it works pretty good.

Longshot is a versatile powder. I've used it to load 20, 12 and 28 ga. It's my favorite 28 ga powder in Winchester HS hulls because of its density. Longshot also meters consistently. I also use Longshot as a backup powder for reloading 44 mag cartridges.
