Smokeless Powder

Product Overview

This product has been discontinued.

IMR Green is one of a new IMR family of powders that have comparable burn speeds to competitor powders. This new IMR family uses new, modern technology to ensure the product is “green,” burns clean and, in most cases, results in more energy from each grain of powder. IMR powders are consistent in bulk densities from lot to lot, eliminating some of the variability inherent in other competitors.

IMR Green burns slightly slower than IMR RED, making it an ideal handicap trap powder and a favorite with sporting clays enthusiasts. This allows the shooter to reach maximum velocity with heavy 1- 1/8-oz. target loads. Accommodates loads from 7/8 to 1-1/8 -oz. 12-gauge loads. Produces excellent light 3⁄4-oz., 20- gauge target loads, especially in Remington STS and Winchester AA HS shells.

For shotshell usage, powder densities are similar to competitor data. Most shotshell data is similar, but IMR recommends always consulting for the correct, up-to-date data and bushing charts.

IMR Green - Its Death !

    Posted by T_Trapper on Feb 17th 2022

I don't know how various websites still have this for sale. I could never find it anywhere and if I did, it was expensive compared to Green Dot, albeit, MUCH cleaner. I would rather shoot this than just about anything else for trap in a Gold Medal 1 oz. load and a Claybuster wad, SO or straight wall (although the latter fouled more). Found it as a soft shooting replacement for Solo 1000, which I shot for 15 years. If I could find this product, actually, I would certainly buy as much as I could before it disappears from shelves, like Solo 1000. Forget finding American Select an equally worthy replacement. But I think, IMR Green actually shoots as good or better for me than those mentioned - a good patterning, soft shooting, worthy replacement for use in my Browning 725. And of course ... its discontinued ...

It saddens me that Hodgdon/IMR quit producing this powder. It's the best I've ever used for sporting clays loads. The shotgun crowd takes a while to accept something new, and it wasn't given enough time to catch on. It's a great powder.

This powder worked great with my 1 once slug reloads. Did a test run today with 16 rounds through my dp-12 it was amazing.
